Bharat Ratna Award: List of awardee from 1954.

Bharat Ratna Award is the most prestigious award in India. This is the highest civilian award in India. Bharat Ratna Award was started in the year 1954 . Prime Minister recommends names to the President for Bharat Ratna Award  . Bharat Ratna awardee receives a certificate and peepal leaf shaped medal. Number of Bharat Ratna awardee are 45 till date . Out of 45, 12 persons were awarded Bharat Ratna Posthumously .
